The Sunnyvale Community Players production of “Big Fish” opened last week and is slated to run through Nov. 7 at the Sunnyvale Theatre, 550 E. Remington Drive.

Based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the film directed by Tim Burton, “Big Fish” tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest. Edward’s larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – especially his devoted wife, Sandra. But their son, Will, who is about to have a son of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.

The musical features a book written by John August and a score by Broadway veteran Andrew Lippa that includes “Be the Hero” and “Two Men in My Life.”

Erica Wyman Abrahamson directs.

Performances are scheduled 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. Sundays.

Tickets are $38-$44 (plus $3.50 service charge).
