Palo Alto Players’ production of “The Revolutionists” is set to preview Friday, open Saturday and run through Nov. 21 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road.

Lauren Gunderson’s play takes place in 1793 during France’s Reign of Terror. Four tough women try not to lose their heads – literally – in this comedy set amid the French Revolution. The four renegades – an assassin, a spy, a writer and Marie Antoinette – hang out, plot to murder Marat, find friendship and try to beat back extremist insanity in Paris.

Tessa Corrie directs a cast that includes Gabriella Goldstein (as Olympe de Gouges), Olga Molina (Marie Antoinette), Katherine Hamilton (Charlotte Corday) and Kimberly Ridgeway (Marianne Angelle).

Shows are slated 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. On-demand streaming runs Nov. 18-21.

Tickets are $27-$57; streaming costs $20 per household. Tickets for the preview have pick-your-price options of $10-$40.
