Fehoko is preseason all-conference pick

San Jose State defensive lineman Junior Fehoko has made the Mountain West preseason all-conference team. The junior out of St. Francis High earned first-team all-Mountain West honors last season, in which the Spartans went undefeated in the regular season and captured their first Mountain West crown.

Chamber golf tourney tees off Monday

The 31st annual Los Altos Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament is scheduled Monday at Los Altos Golf & Country Club, 1560 Country Club Drive. Registration runs 10-11 a.m., as does the putting contest; lunch is at 11:30 a.m. and shotgun start is at noon. Registration for the scramble-format event is $395 per golfer, or $1,400 per foursome; cost includes golf cart, lunch, refreshments on the course, team photos, giveaways, prize tickets, entry into the putting green contest, cocktail hour drink ticket, dinner and awards. The National Federation for State High School Associations offers free online courses for parents and coaches. They include Positive Sport Parenting (proper behavior by parents to ensure their children have a positive sports experience), NCAA Eligibility (educates high school coaches, administrators and parents about the NCAA’s initial-eligibility requirements), Social Media (assists parents and coaches in setting boundaries for students’ social media use).
