The Los Altos High girls volleyball team put an end to rival Mountain View’s 12-match winning streak Tuesday night (Oct. 12), sweeping the Spartans 25-16, 25-21, 25-19.
“We came out pretty motivated and focused,” Los Altos coach Peter Kim said.
Carolyn Dormady and Leigh Doyas notched nine kills each for the host Eagles, who have won eight of their last nine matches. Emma Symon added eight kills, while Megan Wong contributed five aces and 17 assists.
Tessa Hunter led Mountain View with eight kills, and Andisheh Turner compiled seven kills, two blocks and eight assists.
Los Altos improved to 6-3 in the SCVAL De Anza Division (third place) and 17-10 overall. Mountain View dropped to 7-2 in the De Anza (second place) and 20-3 overall.
“I’m very optimistic that we’ll learn from this and be stronger moving forward,” said Spartans coach Dave Winn, whose team last month swept the Eagles in a league match and at the MVLA Tournament the two schools co-hosted.
Mountain View is scheduled to host fourth-place Palo Alto 6:45 p.m. Thursday, while Los Altos doesn’t play until Saturday at Spikefest II, an all-day tournament at Independence High in San Jose.
