Local youth productions closing this weekend

Los Altos Youth Theatre

Los Altos Youth Theatre’s latest production – “Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.” – is scheduled to close Sunday at Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave.

Based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film, the musical includes the hit songs “Part of Your World,” “She’s in Love” and the Oscar-winning “Under the Sea.”

Cindy Powell directs a cast of young actors, many from the area. Brennan Whitaker provides vocal direction and Jillian Toby-Cummings is in charge of choreography.

Evening performances are slated 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; Sunday’s matinee is sold out. Tickets are $12-$17.

Peninsula Youth Theatre

Peninsula Youth Theatre’s Stories on Stage production of “The Wishing Chair and Other Irish Tales” is scheduled this weekend in Mountain View.

Featuring enchanted stories from Ireland, the 45-minute show is designed to pique children’s interest in reading. The cast includes local young actors.

Shows are slated 9:30 and 11 a.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

Tickets are $8-$10.
