Free lectures on remodeling and home additions

Los Altos homeowners and potential home buyers are invited to attend two free lectures in Palo Alto this month, both sponsored by the Building Education Center, a non-profit educational organization based in Berkeley:

"What You Need to Know Before You Build or Remodel," a lecture by longtime contractor and instructor Chuck Rumwell, is scheduled for Jan. 14 from 7-9 p.m. at Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Road, Room A-6.

"The Pros and Cons of Building an Addition" will be presented on Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon by author-designer Philip Wenz, also at the Cubberley Community Center.

For information about the two free lectures, call (510) 525-7610.
