Los Altos Sub-acute to offer regular virus updates

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Los Altos Sub-acute and Rehabilitation Center plans to provide weekly updates that include the number of residents or staff that have tested positive for the coronavirus and steps the facility is taking to mitigate risks and improve safety.

“We will be sharing this information because we believe it is important to everyone’s health and well-being to keep our residents, families, staff and the public fully informed,” Los Altos Sub-acute officials said in a press release. “This information may be shared by personal phone call, virtual communication (such as Zoom) or through updates on our facility website.”

A resident of the Fremont Avenue center tested positive for COVID-19 in mid-March. The resident has since recovered and returned home, according to Los Altos Sub-acute representatives, and no additional residents have tested positive.

Los Altos Sub-acute officials reported that three staff members tested positive for the virus, all of whom fully recovered and were cleared by the local health department.

“Providing for the safety and well-being of our residents and staff is our paramount priority,” officials said in the release. “All residents are being actively monitored for any signs or symptoms of respiratory concerns, including having their temperatures checked daily. All staff, essential medical personnel and vendors are clinically screened prior to entering our facility, including getting their temperatures checked, and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for their duties. We also continue to prohibit visitors.”
