Wedding To Remember

Wedding favors should reflect bride and groom's personalities, budget

Wine photo labels, decorative boxes, flowers, seashells, fortune cookies, flutes and goblets, engraved pens, personalized bookmarks, candles, chocolates, and bells.

Surprise your guests and let them carry away a memento of your personal style and celebration when you bestow on them your favorite favors.

Choose the shape, color, and perfume of your favors to echo the theme of your wedding. Seashells are a natural keepsake for a beach wedding. Potpourri can recall a garden ceremony. Keep the environment in mind, it's probably best to choose a non-perishable gift for a summer wedding outdoors.

Have favors made, or save money by making them yourself. Just make sure you have some able helpers, and allow yourself plenty of time to shop for supplies, and complete them well before the big day.

The size of your guest list will undoubtedly determine your budget. Obviously, a fortune cookie with a personalized fortune will be less expensive than bottles of fine wine with custom labels that bear a photo of the bride and groom.

Simple and tiny favors can look stylish wrapped in colored tulle, tucked inside a wee decorated box, or tied with a flash of satin ribbon. If you have the time and the gift of words, a personal note on personalized stationery might be the most personal thank-you of all.

Favors don't have to be sentimental - feel free to pass along your sense of fun. If you or your spouse happen to be a banker, share the wealth and put everyone in the gold with engraved coins. If you dislike the idea of dodging rice, present small bottles of soap, complete with wand, for blowing bubbles instead. Just make sure the solution is non-toxic, and non-staining.

Everybody seems to love chocolate, whether white, milk, or dark. An imprinted chocolate bar is a sweet reminder, as are chocolate roses, and flavored chocolate coffee spoons. Or wrap up some Hershey's in netting to send home your hugs and kisses from the Mr. and Mrs.

Engraved glass ornaments are lasting reminders, especially if they're hung on your friends' Christmas trees year after year. Or let guests capture their own memories with your disposable cameras.

Let your imagination roam. Fun, romantic, sentimental - what shall it be? Express your thanks and love with a favor by thee.
