LACF highlights volunteer opportunities for seniors

Los Altos Community Foundation officials have challenged local seniors to volunteer.

The foundation, whose mission is to strengthen the community by stimulating local philanthropy and civic engagement, offers a number of volunteer opportunities suited for older adults with time on their hands and expertise to spare – and share.

Redwood Symphony honors LA musician

Redwood Symphony paid tribute to Margaret Elliott, longtime musician and Los Altos resident, at its Feb. 11 concert at Cañada College in Redwood City.

Before the concert began, Eric Kujawsky, Redwood Symphony’s founder and conductor, honored Elliott as an original orchestra member, performing with the ensemble since 1985. After playing viola with the orchestra for 31 years, she is retiring at age 95.

The Los Altos Senior Program is located at Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays.

The Grant Park Senior Program is located at 1575 Holt Ave. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
