Sons In Retirement Branch 35 has an unusual tradition: We give each speaker both a normal introduction and a musical one. In other words, we serenade every speaker with a parody song related to his or her topic or background.

Survivor shares Japanese internment experience

Retirees Jean and Gary Blackburn drove their motorhome to Alder Lake, Wash., in June to attend their granddaughter’s graduation.

Embracing the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote “Life is a journey, not a destination,” Gary and Jean Blackburn love to get in their motorhome and hit the open road.

“Once you get out of the city, it’s like a neverending, page-turning (issue) of National Geographic,” Gary said.

Getting the goods: Delivery services offer alternatives to in-store shopping

For seniors and others unable to make it to the grocery store, another option is available – delivery. Online giants such as Amazon and Google offer such services, as does grocery chain Safeway. Draeger's Market, located in Los Altos on First Street, operates a delivery service locally.
