The Mountain View Public Safety Foundation has scheduled a Senior Care program to assist seniors and others with home repairs. With help from volunteers and grant funding, MVPSF will assist those in need who cannot otherwise perform certain household tasks due to physical or financial constraints.
MVPSF promotes safety in the home and assistance to the elderly. The Senior Care program aims to help seniors and the homebound maintain their independence and remain in their homes longer. Repairs are made by volunteers at no charge to the resident. The program serves residents of Mountain View and the immediate surrounding community.
Examples of help and repairs include washing windows, changing furnace filters, changing light bulbs, replacing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and/or batteries, removing trip hazards, cleaning areas affected by collective behavior, light cleaning and vacuuming, moving furniture and household items, painting, yard maintenance (rake leaves, trim hedges, weed and brush control), flipping mattresses, hooking up video and audio, and installing grab bars and other items for the disabled.
