Regulars at Chef Chu’s know all about the wall – photos of VIP diners over the years, posing for posterity. Challenged recently by young Larry Chu to wax poetic over the wall, I grabbed my Muse.
The Great Wall
Where the mighty and famous and feared come to dine
And to savor great Chinese cuisine
There stands a vast photo wall, one of a kind
Where movers and shakers are seen
In a moment both knowing and
With an eye to the future of fame
An offer was made to a resident poet:
“Rhyme the wall and we’ll honor your name!”
The result was a verse that captured it all
The renowned there enshrined and their glee
And put history’s stamp on a New Age Big Three
Gorbachev, Thatcher – and Me!
