AVID program needs mentors

MVLA Scholars is recruiting mentors to work with students in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program at Mountain View and Los Altos high schools.

AVID aims to prepare students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college, for success at four-year universities. Mentors support students as they learn about the college application process, write their application essays, complete their applications and apply for scholarships.

Mentors do not need to have college counseling experience and will receive support and training. They will meet weekly on campus with students during their AVID class.
