Mountain View police dog retires from service

After six years with the Mountain View Police Department, the 8-year-old German shepherd’s well-earned rest comes with the recent promotion of his human partner, Dorene Hansen, from officer to detective with the department’s burglary crime suppression unit. Odin, as he’s known to his friends, will continue to live with Hansen and her family. The department will eventually purchase a new dog to join German shepherds Ares and Thor on the patrol team.

Man arrested Tuesday night in connection to recent Los Altos apartments car burglary

Los Altos police arrested a San Jose man late Tuesday night (Dec. 3) for a car burglary that occurred approximately 24 hours earlier in an apartment garage on El Camino Real, according to Los Altos Police Sgt. Brian Jeffrey.

MVPD program reconnects residents with missing bikes

Lost and stolen bicycles may soon reunite with their rightful owners, thanks to a new Mountain View Police Department initiative.

Once a month, the department plans to publish a post featuring vague descriptions of bicycles recovered in Mountain View. To claim a bike described on the social media network, owners will need to call 903-6375 and provide detailed information about the bike, including but not limited to its serial number.
