A Los Altos man is recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot after being transported to Stanford Hospital last week, according to authorities.
Los Altos Police Sgt. Brian Jeffrey said at approximately 9:56 p.m. Jan. 29, his department received reports of an attempted suicide on the 1200 block of Villa Huerta. When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man in a bedroom suffering a gunshot wound, according to Jeffrey. Following an investigation, police concluded that no witnesses were in the bedroom at the time the gun was fired. His co-residents were interviewed for more information; one of them had reported the attempted suicide to dispatchers.
Jeffrey said that the gunshot wound was classified as life-threatening, and last officers had heard, the man – admitted to the ICU – was still at Stanford Hospital recuperating.
