A woman who died after passersby discovered her lying in the road might have been the victim of foul play.
The Mountain View Police Department seeks witnesses and security video footage from the public to help explain what happened to the woman at approximately 7:25 p.m. Feb. 21, when she was found near the intersection of El Camino Real and Escuela Avenue, according to a MVPD press release issued Thursday (March 12). Emergency personnel transported her to an area hospital, where she later died.
"She had injuries that, during our brief contact with her, were not apparent to the naked eye, save for a laceration near her foot," MVPD spokeswoman Katie Nelson wrote in an email to the Town Crier. Nelson added that the victim was not shot or stabbed, but she could not disclose additional information about the injuries.
MVPD describes the victim as Caucasian and in her 70s. She was wearing several layers of clothing, pulled a suitcase and seems to have been walking southbound on Escuela Avenue from Latham Street. She walked past 7-Eleven, Cost Plus World Market and some other businesses in the area.
“We are specifically looking for any witnesses or video that may have seen or captured footage of the victim between 7:10-7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21,” MVPD officials wrote in the release.
