Burglars scoop cash from Mountain View ice cream shop

A Mountain View council member is still hoping for leads concerning the vandalism and burglary of his business late last month.

Shattered glass litters the sidewalk outside Baskin Robbins, 1249 W. El Camino Real in Mountain View, where burglars busted in Dec. 21.

Thieves broke a front window of the Baskin Robbins at 1249 W. El Camino Real at approximately 3 a.m. Dec. 21, said shop owner John McAlister, a Mountain View Councilman in his second term. Approximately $700 was taken.

“It could have been an inside job because they knew right where the money was,” McAlister said Wednesday (Jan. 8).

Surveillance video from the incident is dark, making it difficult to see what the suspects look like, but Mountain View Police Department investigators described their clothing as dark hoodies, pants and shoes. McAlister said a “greenish” Crown Victoria sedan was filmed at the scene.

As of Wednesday, the case remained under investigation, said Katie Nelson, police spokeswoman, and the broken shop window remained boarded up.
