Mountain View Fire Department firefighters work to put out a blaze at an Evelyn Avenue auto shop Sunday.

A fire at a Mountain View auto repair shop caused approximately $300,000 worth of damage to the structure and the building’s contents early Sunday (Jan. 5) morning, but no one was injured in the blaze.

Mountain View Fire Department firefighters from at least five units dispatched at 4:16 a.m. and arrived on scene at 57 E. Evelyn Ave. at 4:22 a.m., according to a department press release. They employed an “aggressive interior fire attack,” officials said, and managed to extinguish the flames by 4:34 a.m.

MVFD spokesman Robert Maitland said the firefighters’ efforts saved the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
