Teens arrested for downtown Los Altos carjacking

Police officers have arrested two teenage boys accused of assaulting a pair of Los Altos residents and stealing their car from a downtown parking garage.

The suspects, ages 15 and 16, were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall early Tuesday morning (Nov. 5) and charged with robbery and carjacking, both felonies, according to a Los Altos Police Department press release issued Friday. They are both residents of Santa Clara.

According to the release, the teens approached a 66-year-old man and his 64-year-old female companion at approximately 10:48 p.m. Monday as they arrived at a condominium parking garage located in the 100 block of Second Street in Los Altos. The suspects allegedly demanded the victims’ personal property and the keys to their vehicle and assaulted the man, causing injuries.

Los Altos police officers located the stolen vehicle in the 3700 block of Benton Street in Santa Clara at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, and Santa Clara Police Department officers arrested the teens on scene, according to the release.
