Dr. Ashton Rose Nielson and Vincent Robert Grosso were married Jan. 25 in a small ceremony at the Grosso home in Saratoga.

The couple met as freshmen at St. Francis High School.

Scouting News: Troop 80 honors new Eagle Scout


Fitch

Local Boy Scout Troop 80 recently honored its latest Eagle Scout, Will Fitch.

Fitch was a Cub Scout in Pack 105 before he joined Troop 80. As a Scout, he backpacked, rock climbed and canoed throughout California, and camped out more than 175 nights. He served as patrol leader for four terms and as senior patrol leader for three terms.

Linda Willey Meyer

Linda Meyer 032719 onlineNovember 4, 1970 – February 10, 2019 Linda Willey Meyer, 48, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Sunday, February 10, 2019 after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer. Linda was born in Monterey, CA to Allan Willey and Kitty Merz. She was raised in Palo Alto, California, graduating from Gunn High School before earning her BA degree from San Diego State University. After college, Linda lived in Toronto and Palo Alto before settling in Chicago for ten years. During her time in Chicago, she worked in the investment industry, earned an MBA from Loyola University and met and married her husband Joel Meyer. Linda and Joel moved to California in 2004. There, they have raised three children, Kira (14), Liam (11) and Jack (9) and lived in Los Altos since 2008. At the time of her passing, Linda was a Managing Director at Silicon Valley Bank in Menlo Park. Linda was fun-loving, kind, loyal, funny, compassionate, hard-working and a good listener.

Garry C. Wride

Garry Wride 032719 onlineJuly 9, 1932-March 16, 2019 Garry C. Wride was born on July 9, 1932 in Alameda to George and Alice Wride. He was an Eagle Scout and star of the Alameda High basketball team. Garry went on to play basketball for College of the Pacific where he then met his future bride, Nancy Kaljian. Garry transferred to Stanford University where he graduated with a degree in Economics in 1954 and later earned an MBA from Pepperdine University. Nancy and Garry married in 1955 and moved to Monterey where Garry served in the Army and played on the Army basketball team at Ford Ord. Garry went on to have a career as an executive for Philco Ford Aerospace/SSL where he worked for forty years. Garry loved traveling the world with his friends and family, and was a loyal Stanford basketball fan. He was an avid sailor, and spent many vacations at Huntington Lake, Pajaro Dunes and Sun Lakes, AZ. Garry is survived by his wife Nancy, children Michael, Karen and Wendy, daughter-in-law Christi, son-in-law Greg and his grandchildren Megan, Justin, Halle, Anna and Lily, his sister-in-law Ban and many nieces and nephews.
