Obituaries

Passed away peacefully at Stanford Hospital on October 24th, 2018 at the age of 61, surrounded by her loving family and friends.  Missy was born on November 12th, 1956 in Palo Alto, California to Barbara and Dick Lutz, a fourth generation Californian. Missy grew up in Los Altos Hills, she attended Los Altos High,The University of Oregon and received a degree in Marketing at San Jose State. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. After graduation Missy quickly climbed the ladder of the corporate world, working in marketing communications for Cisco and then HP.  In a time where women were not as prominent in the workplace, Missy constantly demanded respect from colleagues and clients which allowed her to have a very successful career in the tech industry.

Lydia Young was born in the tiny Appalachian plateau town of Ivyton, Kentucky on December 5, 1927. Depression times were tough for Lydia and her Family. Despite hardship, Lydia was determined to make a good life for herself. She left her home on a bus headed for Chicago at the tender age of fourteen. Lydia quickly landed on her feet in the Windy City and found a room and a waitressing job. She was smart, persuasive and beautiful. Wanting to better herself, Lydia saved and worked hard to earn her beautician and cosmetology licenses. With those skills in hand, Lydia set off to the West – to Hollywood. It was there where Lydia blossomed and worked under Perc Westmore and his brother, famous hair and make-up artists at Warner Brothers. Lydia did make up and hair for the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell, and dozens more famous film stars. Lydia then met Jack Young and gave birth to Scott Allen Young.

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Anne Marie McIntyre. Anne died at 82 years of age on October 21, 2018 at 5:17 am in her home of 46 years. While she will be greatly missed she is now free of pain and with our Lord in heaven. Anne is survived by Ray, her husband of 63 years, her seven children, Andrew, David, Catherine, Helen, Elizabeth, Fran and Mike, son-in-laws Don, Tim and Steve and daughter-in laws, Karen and Kellie. She was a wonderful Nanna to her fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her immediate family did not only love Anne, she was also loved and admired by so many.

Jean Ann Augsburger, a former resident of Los Altos, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 22. She was 92. Born in Minnesota and raised in Ohio, Jean Ann was a gifted quilter, a perfect hostess, an intrepid world traveler, and a steadfast companion to her husband Bob, who predeceased her in 2009. Her favorite sayings were “Mind over matter” and “You always look better when you smile” — words that guided her life to the very end.  Jean Ann is survived by her son David, her son John, and her daughter Jane McLaughlin; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will hold a private service.

Axelsson passed away unexpectedly on Saturday October 13 while visiting her mother at hospice in Wisconsin.  Kathy was born on May 13, 1955 in Kenosha WI and grew up and worked in the Midwest. In 1992 she moved to Sunnyvale with Anders Axelsson whom she married on April 17, 1993.  In 1998 they moved to Los Altos which became their beloved home together with their children Marcus and Marlena, both born at El Camino Hospital.  Kathy was involved in the community from local schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, MVLA soccer and much more.
