Jesse Jay Craddock Jr

Jesse Jay Craddock Jr Jesse Jay Craddock Jr Jesse Jay Craddock, Jr. was born in Auburn, Illinois, on January 2, 1921. He passed away peacefully in his home in Los Altos on April 22, 2019 at the age of 98. He is survived by his wife Bea Craddock and son Doug Craddock. Jay was blessed with a long and healthy life distinguished early by his service in WWII as Captain in the US Army Air Corps and later in the California Air National Guard, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel.

An illustrious career followed as an insurance agent and broker. Jay retired in 1988. Throughout his working life and into his retirement, Jay was profusely involved in activities and clubs within his community. These included among many others the Elks Club, the Boy Scouts of America (of which he was an Eagle Scout), Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), Retired Officers Club, Optimist Club, and Flycasters Club. Jay would continue his love of aviation as a private pilot. His other hobbies included Karate, fishing, photography and swimming, all of which he endeavored with determination and joy.

Jay was a champion swimmer in high school and continued his athletic spirit into his 80’s in Masters swim competitions, winning numerous medals. Jay enjoyed many trips and cruises around the world with his family. He loved being at his cabin in Dorrington in the Sierra foothills of California where he, Bea and Doug and other family and friends would enjoy the great outdoors together. A funeral service for Jay will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, 96 W. El Camino Real in Mountain View. Interment with military honors will follow at Alta Mesa Memorial Park, 695 Arastradero Road in Palo Alto.
