William Davis Ramsey

Billy Ramsey 022019 onlineApril 11, 1953-December 29, 2018 William Davis Ramsey passed away December 29, 2018, after falling ill with the flu this winter and consequently fighting a short battle with ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) at Renown Hospital in Reno. He led a full life sharing his love, laughter, gift of gab, and sometimes off-color sense of humor with his many friends, family, and acquaintances. Bill was an incredibly selfless soul who showed unwavering, unconditional, wholehearted love to all those around him and in turn was loved and will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew him. Born April 11, 1953, in Palo Alto, CA, to James and Betty Ramsey, he grew up in Los Altos, CA. He attended Santa Rita Elementary, Egan Junior High, and graduated from Los Altos High School in 1971. He completed his AA at Columbia College in Sonora and his BA in Business Administration at Humboldt State University. He settled in South Lake Tahoe where he happily enjoyed the Tahoe lifestyle for over 45 years. Bill began his career working at Tahoe’s casinos, but found he enjoyed being self-employed.

He started a maintenance business and served as caretaker for businesses and homes of part-time Tahoe residents. He met clients who, over time, became lifelong friends. He served on the Tahoe Keys Property Owners’ Association Architecture Control Committee. Bill’s “happy place” was spending a sun kissed day out on the crystal-clear water of Lake Tahoe in his boat. From his first boat at age 16, a Hobe Cat, to his last, a cabin cruiser, he savored the serenity, the thrill, water skiing, and the companionship of others out on the lake. He was often joined by one of his beloved canine companions, Sampson, Joey, or Toby. Bill found his way back to his childhood sweetheart, Kimberley Allison Harris Ramsey, in 2005. In 2010, Bill and Kimberley were married in a beautiful outdoor wedding at his home surrounded by family and friends. Bill was often visited by family, especially during holidays and summer passing down the legacy his grandparents, George and Peggy Ramsey, began in 1967 when they purchased his Tahoe home as a special place for family to play, love, and laugh together. Bill is survived by his wife, Kimberley, his older sister, Vicki Ramsey Carr and her husband Bill Carr of Santa Cruz, their daughters Melissa Carr Mosher (husband Christian Mosher, children Carter and Emma) of Kailua, Hawaii, and Christina Carr Reszneky (husband Dezi Reszneky, children Lily and Dezi), and his younger brother, George Ramsey, of Peoria, Arizona and his sons Kody Ramsey of Peoria (partner, Bayley Curry, daughter, Kayden), and K.C. Ramsey of Idaho. If you wish to make donations in his name, any organization that helps keep Lake Tahoe environmentally sound for future generations to enjoy would honor him. E.g. League to Save Lake Tahoe/Keep Tahoe Blue, Tahoe Heritage Foundation, Lake Tahoe Humane Society, Wildlife Heritage…. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held Summer 2019, date not yet determined.
