Jeanne Elizabeth Foster passed away on November 29 leaving behind a legacy of love, strength and caring. Jeanne and her husband Dick were residents of Los Altos for nearly 50 years. Born at home in Walworth NY on August 4, 1925 to Ellis and Emma Collier, she was an only child who grew up working on the family farm. Jeanne caught the eye of her future husband Dick Foster at Walworth High School where they both played trumpet in the school band. From High School Jeanne went on to graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
After his return from service in World War II Dick Foster married the love of his life at Jeanne’s home on June 15, 1946. Jeanne sewed her own wedding dress made in part from parachute silk. Jeanne always had an artistic side that expressed itself over the years through sewing, craft work, home decorating (for herself and others) and painting in oils and watercolors. Even though Dick’s career in sales often required the family to relocate, she succeeded over the years in running a happy, safe and loving household wherever life took her and her family. Mom, grandma, great grandma, thank you for showing us how to live a life with grace and unreserved love The Foster and Fitzgerald families
