Janet Lee Rufener Presley

OBIT Janet Lee Rufener Presley online 122618April, 23, 1933 -- Nov. 27, 2018 Janet was born April 23, 1933 to William H. Rufener and Marie B. (Zurcher) Rufener in Hillsboro, Oregon. She passed away peacefully at home in Los Altos, CA on November 27, 2018 from complications of Multiple Myeloma. Her parents operated a dairy farm near Banks, Oregon.  Both of her parents were from very large families. most of whom were also farmers, or lived in nearby towns. Jan's childhood ranged from schoolwork, farm chores, piano lessons, church activities, 4H, and attending a multitude of family gatherings. Jan graduated from Banks High School in 1950 and went on to graduate from Oregon State College in Corvallis, Oregon in 1954 with a B.S. in Home Economics.  Always having a sense of adventure, she was hired by Trans World Airlines as a stewardess and lived in New York City for about a year.

 In 1955, Jan moved back to Oregon and married Leroy (Roy) Presley.  In 1956, they moved to California, and eventually settled in Los Altos, California, and raised three children Jennifer Louise Presley (Steve Smith) Talent, Oregon, Michael William Presley (Katherine) Healdsburg, California, and Todd Kevin Presley (Christy Martin), Honolulu, Hawaii. Throughout Jan's life, she brought beauty and creativity to everything she touched. She was an avid gardener, ceramic and fiber artist, gourmet cook, a good friend to many, and most of all a loving mother and wife.  Roy and Jan have been married for sixty-two years, enjoying their crafts together, raising a family, and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. She is and will be greatly missed. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother William H. Rufener, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Roy, her sister Betty Ann (Rufener) Jabusch, her three children, two granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter. A Celebration of Life for Jan will be held at the Los Altos United Methodist Church on February 2, 2019. In lieu of gifts, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jan’s name.
