Arloa Joy Kelsen Mulock

OBIT Arloa Mulock 2Arloa Joy Kelsen Muloch, 94, of Los Altos, CA, passed into God’s eternal care on May 18, 2017.  She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Clarence and Gertrude Lange, and granddaughter of Jacob and Harriet Benner, cigar manufacturing magnates.  Arloa had some of the best times of her life at the Lutheran Camp Arcadia on the shores of Lake Michigan, where her parents had a summer home.  She was active in her church throughout her life.
Arloa attended Beloit College in Wisconsin and was active in Tri Delta Sorority.  She met her husband Arthur Kelsen, who had a masters degree in Chemical Engineering, while he was a lieutenant in the Navy during WWII.  After living in Ohio for many years, they moved to California in 1957.  Arloa worked for years at Cunningham’s Clothing Store in Los Altos.  She was an avid animal lover, protector and supported many animal rights causes.  She played golf, tennis, swam, ran Bay to Breakers and Bridge to Bridge until her 80’s and travelled with friends all over the world.  The San Francisco Giants were a passionate interest of hers.  She was a consummate entertainer and belonged to many organizations including the Widow and Widowers and Lindbergh Lodge.  Arloa loved concerts, museums, plays and was an active volunteer.  She was also a member of the Raging Grannies and was a feminist before it was fashionable.  Arloa was brave and fearless and lived life to the fullest, completing everything on her bucket list.

OBIT Arloa MulockArloa was predeceased  by her 2 husbands, a wonderful life partner and her only daughter, Sandee.  She is survived by niece Barbara Burke, and her niece and nephew Doria and Vladimir Fanning, many grand and great grand nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Los Altos Lutheran Church on Saturday June 30th at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception.
