Elbert Brown, Jr. born in Meridian, Mississippi, passed away on May 9 in Auburn, CA. at the age of 79.
He graduated from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) with a chemical engineering degree and received an MBA from Stanford University where he graduated in the top 5% of his class. He served as Chief Munitions Officer on the USS Sculpin nuclear submarine during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked at Raychem Corporation as a Director for 32 years from 1967 – 1999.
El loved to travel, read and spend time with his family and friends. An avid golfer he hit a hole in one twice, but never boasted about it. A warm, patient, generous and kind man, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dale Brown, his siblings Beth Ifju and Mike Brown, daughters Sonya Seyle, Shirley Bacon, Laurie Laumeister, Amy Kull and Jennifer Quermann, and grandchildren Ava Seyle, Abby Seyle, Joe Kull, Ryan Kull, Charlie Bacon and Sally Battleston.
Private graveside service for the family, with full military honors for El, will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA on June 18, 2018. A gathering of Friends and Family in honor of El and Dale will be held at The Winchester Community Swim and Tennis Club on June 18 from 1:30-3:30pm. Light refreshments and beverages will be served. All are welcome.
