OBIT HelenStanley

Helen Stanley was born in Pocasset, Oklahoma on February 21, 1930, and passed away peacefully on February 19, 2018.

Helen was the third of eight children. She enjoyed her childhood, especially living and playing with her three sisters and four brothers on the cotton plantation that her mom and dad worked.

Helen and Roy Stanley were married in 1948. They moved to California where their four children were born. In 1963, the family moved to their home in Los Altos, which Helen occupied until her death. Along with Bible study groups and church functions, Helen enjoyed entertaining brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends at home. She loved spending time with her grandkids, following their sporting and theatrical activities and making sure homework was finished.

Helen worked over thirty years for Dr. James Cunningham, DDS, and is still remembered by patients and office staff.

Helen’s infinite faith and belief in God equipped her for life’s journey after the death of her husband, Roy in 2002 and daughter Terri Lynn in 2007. Helen was a longtime member of the Palo Alto Church of the Nazarene and proudly served on the Church board for over 20 years.

Surviving Children in Mountain View and Los Altos are Randall R Stanley (Julie), Dennis M Stanley and Mitchell C Stanley (Anabel) and grandchildren Andrea Brady, Ross Stanley, Keegan Stanley, and great granddaughter Kinley Brady. Helen was also loved by her step-granddaughters Dania Hernandez, Barbara Trujeque and their children, Isabel, Cristian, Victoria and Benjamin.

A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Community Church, 2490 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, CA, on Saturday March 3rd, at 2:00 pm.
