CECILIA J. KEEHAN

OBIT CeciliaJKeehan edit

Passed away on January 18, 2018 — one day shy of her 84th birthday.

Born, raised, and wed in Wilkes Barre, PA, Cecilia graduated in 1955 with a B.A. in journalism from Penn State, where she met her future husband Jim. She and Jim were married for 58 years until his death in 2013. She earned an A.A. in Paralegal Studies at De Anza College circa 1992.

While Jim served as a pilot for the U.S. Navy, Cecilia and Jim lived in Rota, Spain; Pensacola, FL; Bath, Maine; and Hutchison, KS, before they permanently settled in the Bay Area in 1964. Cecilia worked as a Patent Law Executive Assistant at Syntex Corporation for 10 years until 1994.

She was an active volunteer for organizations for much of her adult life, including the Clipper Wives (for spouses of Pan Am pilots), the local chapters of the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters, and various local committees. During the 1980s, she co-hosted local cable TV programs, including Before the Council and Left, Right, and Center. During the 1990s, she was the Program Chair for the Morning Forum of Los Altos. As Program Chair, speaker Vincent Bugliosi (who successfully prosecuted Manson) was arguably her biggest score.

Together, Cecilia and Jim enjoyed traveling, attending plays, ballets, and museums abroad (particularly in Britain) and in the U.S. At home, Cecilia enjoyed gardening, walking to Peet's with her friends, and keeping abreast of local and national current affairs.

Cecilia is survived by her daughter Sarah; son Jay; and grandson Eugene. Cecilia's children extend their thanks to the Monte Farley Manor Guest Home in Mountain View for the respect and excellent care their employees gave Cecilia. Their kindness and accountability are much appreciated.

To honor Cecilia's memory, please consider making a gift to your favorite Bay Area arts nonprofit or museum. Services were held.
