92, of Los Altos, died December 8, 2017 in Cupertino.
Raised near Toledo, Ohio, Jean attended Smith College in Massachusetts, and, after marrying husband Lucian after her third year at Smith, finished her degree in Early Childhood Education at Ohio State.
Jean is survived by husband Lucian, daughter Carol Carciere, son Rich Taylor, and son David Taylor. She has four grandchildren, David Carciere, Courtney Taylor Rutkowski, Sheila Taylor Shavers, and Chase Taylor; and 12 great grandchildren.
A dedicated volunteer and involved church member, Jean was a generous woman, giving to many causes and bringing kindness (and often her famous custards) to those who needed her. An intelligent, adventurous and independent woman, Jean loved to spend time on her ranch in Montana and sail the Pacific. She remained active to the end, attending yoga and circuit training, and walking with friends. She had a zest for life seldom seen and will be greatly missed by all.
A celebration of her life with reception following will be held January 12th at Foothills Congregational Church, 461 Orange Ave, Los Altos, at 11am. To honor Jean’s memory, make a donation to your favorite charity. She gave to many diverse causes herself and would appreciate that.
