STEVEN JOHN BARNES

OBIT StevenJohnBarnes

Steven John Barnes died on November 21, 2017 in Novato, California at the age of 46. Gifted and talented in many directions, he was a loving and loyal friend, son, husband, father and brother.

Everyone loved Steve. He liked nothing better than to bring friends and family together and cook and bake for them. He loved skiing, surfing, hiking and excelled at all sports. He was also a good photographer, a faithful family documentarian, and could fix anything from a wind-up wristwatch to a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Steve’s career was in Information Technology, starting at the University of San Francisco where he ran the student computer laboratory as an undergraduate. He was soon managing computer networks for a number of established and start-up companies on the Peninsula and in San Francisco. Steve’s most recent job was managing computer systems, and staff, for CREDO Mobile in San Francisco.

Steve was full of life and energy and was never too busy to drop everything and help out anyone in need of computer or gadget support. He was also a gentle spirit who loved and cared for countless animals and birds – all of which adored him in return. His family misses him more than they can ever say.

Steve graduated from Pinewood School in Los Altos, Los Altos High School, and the University of San Francisco. He leaves his wife, Maralisa, and children Caitlin and Julian of Novato; his brother Jeff Barnes of Ventura (wife Christina and two children); his sister Catherine Lopez-Baldrich of Santa Barbara (husband Pedro and two children); maternal aunt, Sue Larson of Los Altos Hills (husband Bob); and parents, Dr. John and Carolyn Barnes of Los Altos.

A memorial service for Steven John Barnes will be held on Monday, December 11 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, 1806 Novato Boulevard, Novato. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Steve Barnes Memorial on Gofundme.com (on the Gofundme.com site, search for "Steve Barnes Memorial").
