OBIT PeggyAFong

Peggy Wu Fong, 69, of Los Altos Hills, passed on her Birthday, 3/27/17, peacefully with her family all by her side.

Throughout her cancer journey, she faced both life & death with incredible courage, dignity, resilience, and grace. Everyone who knew her appreciated her positive and joyous outlook on life. Peggy believed that life should be lived with no regrets, and this positive attitude helped her battle her 3-year arduous ordeal with cancer.

Peggy always lived her life to the fullest in whatever she did, whether it was regular walks with her neighborhood walking ladies' group, studying the stock market with her stock market study group, Athena, spending time with her grandchildren, or lunching with her many friends. Peggy's love of life was infectious and she positively impacted all who knew her in her little town of Los Altos Hills.

She was born on 3/27/48 to her parents, T.Y. Wu and Chen Yun Ming, in Shanghai, China and immigrated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1974. She was a resident of her beloved hometown of Los Altos Hills for 35 years.

Peggy was a loving wife, beloved mother, and the quintessential grandmother. She always put her family first. Peggy was kind, wholeheartedly generous, charming, had a big heart, a perpetual sunny outlook, and a generous spirit that was infectious. She will forever be a model of kindness, compassion, and grace to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Godfrey Fong, her siblings, Betty Wu, James Wu, Beatrice Wu, and John Wu, her children, Orlena Fong Shek, Angela Fong, Jeffrey Fong, her son-in-law, Justin Shek, her daughter-in-law, Hillary Fong, and her two grandchildren, Annabelle Shek and Graham Fong.

We want to thank family and friends for their love and endless support. We also want to thank her team of doctors at both Stanford and UCSF for their compassion and dedication to her care. Her family requests donations to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance in lieu of flowers. Since Peggy believed in celebrating every moment in life, a celebration of Peggy's life will be held on Sunday, May 7th. For more information, please e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots.
