Long time Los Altos resident and business owner, Jerre Arthur Gonzales, passed away at his home on July 21, 2014 at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife, Carol Gonzales, his children, Jay Gonzales and Sara Gonzales-Erhan, his sister, Maxine (Gonzales) Chavez, his two brothers Dick Gonzales and James Gonzales and his 5 grandchildren.
Jerre was born and raised in Rocky Ford, Colorado. After living briefly in Boulder, Colorado, he enlisted in the Army at the age of 20. After his Service in the Army, Jerre attended the University of Colorado where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business in 1963.
In 1965 Jerre moved to California for a job where he later met his wife of 46 years, Carol. They lived briefly in Palo Alto and then purchased a house in Los Altos in 1971 where he lived until his death.
Jerre ran a successful insurance agency for 40 years, volunteered for several organizations in the surrounding community, and was active in his church. Jerre was a talented builder and added approximately 1500 square feet of living space to his home in Los Altos. Jerre was also passionate about computers and electronics and built several home computers for himself as well as for close friends.
Jerre will best be remembered as a “friend to all,” having a keen interest in creating connections and learning about people of different cultures, interests, and beliefs. He was extremely social and outgoing and had hundreds of friends he corresponded with, including many he had known from elementary and high school.
Jerre was interred at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos on July 31, 2014 in the presence of his family.
A Service Celebrating the Life of Jerre Arthur Gonzales will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Los Altos on Tuesday, August 19 at 2:00pm with a reception immediately following.

Jerre was a beautiful person and will not be forgotten.
