Barbara Kirkpatrick Rothman was born July 28, 1928 in Palo Alto, California, and raised in Los Altos Hills. She was the second of three children. After graduating from high school, she attended Stanford University, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics.
Barbara met Steve Rothman at Stanford. They married in the Stanford chapel on October 14, 1951. They moved to Wheaton, Illinois in 1955, where she lived until she moved to Alaska to be closer to family in 2012. Barbara was a painter, and a great supporter of the arts. She was a stalwart volunteer at the DuPage Art League for 40 years. She and Steve traveled the world visiting Europe, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. Barbara was an outstanding mother and amazing cook. She had a keen mind and a big heart. She will be missed.
Barbara is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Pat Kirkpatrick; her daughter Ann Fritcher; her son Nick Rothman and his wife, Leigh Whitaker; her grandchildren Aaron Rothman and his wife Rebecca, Erica Rothman, and Adam Rothman; and her great-grand daughter Lia Rothman.
There will be a private memorial service later this summer. Memorial donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders.
