OBIT JanetKline

Janet Elena Kline passed away on Thursday April 17th at her home in Los Altos Hills after a long illness with Dementia. She was 85 years old. Born Janet Elena Giacomazzi on September 1, 1928 in San Jose, California to the late John Edward and Gelia Elena Giacomazzi, Janet grew up on the Swiss family prune and apricot orchard in San Jose and graduated from Campbell High School.

She then went to San Jose State where she received her bachelor’s degree in Education. Janet received her Masters degree from Stanford in education where she met her future husband, David Kline. After graduation Janet taught math and science in middle school for two years before marrying David in 1953. All her students universally loved Janet.

After the marriage the couple then moved to Southern California where Janet taught in Long Beach and Whittier for four years until they started a family. David and Janet had three children.

After six more years in Southern California the couple moved back to the Bay Area to be closer to their families. They moved to Los Altos to raise the children. During these years she was a devoted homemaker and mother, always available to her children.  She was very active in the community and in the children’s activities. The family traveled, skied, played tennis, and did many other activities together. Janet was always very supportive of her family. Janet also enjoyed playing bridge and golf. She had a passion for gourmet cooking, flower arranging, and gardening. Janet is survived by her devoted husband of over 61 years, David Stuart Kline of Los Altos Hills, her brother, John E. Giacomazzi (wife Elsie) of San Jose, her daughter, Jennifer J Kline (husband Juan Sacristan), and granddaughter, Camille M. Sacristan of Napa Valley, her daughter, Cynthia M. Cook (husband, John E. Cook) of Santa Clara, and her son, Ronald D. Kline of San Jose.

A memorial service has been held. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers a donation be made towards Dementia Research to: The National Endowment for Alzheimer's Research (NEAR), 40 East Main Street Suite #102, Newark, DE 19711.
