Sept. 9, 1918 – May 8, 2013

Passed away peacefully at home in Los Altos Hills, aged 94 years. Charlie, the fourth generation descendant of Gold Rush pioneers, was born in Piedmont, CA, grew up in San Francisco, attending Galileo High and the University of San Francisco. He served in the Medical Corps in World War II. He met and married Gwendolyn Dunn in 1948, enjoying 65 years of wedded bliss.

He was a Real Estate Appraiser, working for the Cities of Sunnyvale and Palo Alto. He was an avid horseman, leading the Los Altos Trail Club and participating in the Tevis 100 mile endurance race.

He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn, sons Charles and James, daughters Gwendolyn Dougherty, Elizabeth Dougherty, Joan McLeod, and Margaret (Peggy) Mueller-Gonyea and grandchildren Justin and Kathleen Christina McLeod, Amanda Mueller and Charlie Gonyea.

Funeral Mass was held at St. Nicholas church in Los Altos on Saturday, May 18, 2013.
