Scouting News: Troop 37 recognizes Eagle Scouts

Los Altos Boy Scout Troop 37 honored two new Eagle Scouts at a Court of Honor ceremony Sept. 15. Los Altos City Councilwoman Anita Enander presented the Scouts with proclamations.

To receive the Eagle Rank, the highest distinction in Boy Scouts, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges, hold leadership positions and complete a community service project.

Scouting News: Girls Scouts honor award recipients

Los Altos City Councilwomen Anita Enander and Neysa Fligor celebrate Girl Scouts Gold and Silver award recipients.

Girl Scouts of Northern California Service Unit 608 honored Gold, Silver and Bronze award recipients at the Grant Park Community Center April 28.

Three Girl Scouts earned Gold Awards, the highest award in Girl Scouts, 12 earned Silver Awards and two Junior troops earned Bronze Awards.

Engagement: Laurel Shiba and Andrew Chung

Laurel Shiba and Andrew Chung are engaged to be married Oct. 5 at Gover Ranch in Anderson.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Gina and John Atkinson of Los Altos. She attended Pinewood School and graduated from Whitman College with a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies, and from Palo Alto University with a doctorate in clinical psychology. She is completing at postdoctoral fellowship at Y.A. Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
