Opera San José recently appointed Los Altos resident Cathy Lazarus to its board of directors.
Lazarus brings extensive business and management experience to the organization.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in environmental planning from Stanford University and a Master of City Planning from Harvard University, she launched a long career with Santa Clara County, where she held positions including management analyst, deputy director of Parks and Recreation and risk management director.
Lazarus then worked for the city of Mountain View, where she ultimately retired as public works director.
Her professional areas of expertise include strategic planning, community engagement, infrastructure and capital project planning, personnel management, organizational structure and budget strategy.
The nonprofit Opera San José, now in its 36th year, also recently appointed Saratoga resident Pravesh Mehra to its board.
