City of Los Altos senior civil engineer Aida Fairman last month received the Outstanding Civil Engineer in the Public Sector award from the American Society of Civil Engineers’ San Francisco Chapter.
The society recognized Fairman, nominated by her peers, for outstanding engineering achievement, with consideration given to engineers who made a significant impact in the field of civil engineering. Such impact may be through professional activities, ASCE involvement, research and innovative engineering solutions.
As an award winner for the San Francisco Chapter of ASCE, Fairman is automatically nominated for the ASCE Region 9 award, encompassing all of California.
Fairman has worked for the city of Los Altos for 10 years, and has been a member of ASCE since 1991. She earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Houston.
“Aida is a true professional and a pleasure to work with,” Los Altos Public Works Director Susanna Chan said. “She exhibits competence in the various capital improvement projects she oversees, tackles challenges with grace and seeks opportunities to continue her professional development.”
Fairman was recently selected to serve as one of two Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program Watershed Watch Campaign spokespersons. She was interviewed by NBC Bay Area in English and Telemundo 48 TV in Spanish for a “Watershed Watch” segment for residents across Santa Clara County.
