Dog owners make peace after park incident

The Town Crier published an article March 4 about the death of our dog, Mike (“Owners of dog killed in Lincoln Park find responsible party”). It is now out of date, so in the interest of community and healing, I write to share the following update.

The dog’s owner wrote a letter expressing responsibility, an apology and heartfelt sadness, and offered an explanation of her dog’s character that led to Mike’s death. One day later she made the decision to euthanize her dog.

It was with genuine sadness that I communicated to her that I held no ill will, and thanked her for her sacrifice.

We all have had a relationship with an animal or someone we believed we could change or manage, or believed in time its nature would mellow. We are human and we make mistakes, often with love motivating them.

The dog’s owner is an animal lover, she is my neighbor and she is human.

If you have any small doubt about the nature of your animal, please invest in a muzzle for outings. It is not a punishment, but an act of concern for life and welfare. Nature is nature.

Our family would like to thank all the neighbors who opened their door to strangers, who helped us and who sent messages and flowers. Thank you to Officer Vicky Jones and the team at the Los Altos Police Department, Palo Alto Animal Services and the Los Altos Town Crier.

Chef Chu’s offers curbside food pickup

Thank you for making our 50th anniversary celebration so memorable. On behalf of my family and all the staff here at Chef Chu’s, we want you to know how special this community has been in our lives.

For 50 years, we’ve watched your kids grow up, celebrated birthdays and shared your special occasions. Our motto has always been, “Treat every day like Grand Opening Day.”

During these uncertain times, we have been diligent in taking all necessary precautions to keep our community safe.

In response to the current climate, we have decided to provide an extra convenience to our loyal customers, “Priority Curbside Pickup.” For a limited time, we will be designating reserved parking for priority pickup. Stay in your car and we will bring your order to you.

Thank you again for your loyal support.
