Election 2018: Paid Political Endorsement Letters - Week of Oct. 31

Fligor: Extraordinary candidate for council

We are fortunate this election to have an extraordinary candidate for Los Altos City Council.

Neysa Fligor has life experiences that prepared her well for the council. She worked as a lawyer for Santa Clara County, learning local government functions; served on the El Camino Healthcare District Board of Directors, where she learned basics of governance; and was chair of the Los Altos Parks and Recreation Commission, giving her the perspective of a council advisory body. The Recreation Commission oversees senior and teen programs, giving her an appreciation for these demographics.

Currently, she is employed as a corporate attorney by HP, giving her business perspective. And that is not all. As the mother of two elementary school children, she understands the needs of young families, a growing sector of our community.

Neysa has developed a strongly collaborative approach to governing, which could benefit our council now more than ever. Neysa ran for council two years ago, missing by just six votes.

She is the only candidate to receive the endorsement of every organization, including three local newspapers, that interviewed and endorsed candidates.

Please give her your vote and contribute to her campaign at voteneysa.org.

Fligor: Clear, collaborative and constructive

I support Neysa Fligor for Los Altos City Council (voteneysa.org). Neysa lost by only a handful of votes two years ago (yes, every vote counts!).  I voted for her then and will vote for her again because I believe she has the right experience and constructive approach to be an effective council member.

Neysa has a demonstrated leadership style and passion for public service that will help move our big issues forward.  Some highlights of her 10-plus years of local government experience include serving on the Parks and Recreation Commission (including as chair) and on the El Camino Healthcare District Board, and she was an attorney for Santa Clara County. While with the county, she analyzed complex issues, drafted local ordinance codes and policies, and learned the nuts and bolts of local government. She knows how to navigate the process and will hit the ground running.

Neysa’s strong qualifications, clear thinking and collaborative approach will enable her to listen, evaluate and make informed, constructive decisions for our town.

Vote for Neysa to keep Los Altos a wonderful place for our entire community.

Bremeau: Dedicated to all of Los Altos

I met Nancy Bremeau a few years ago, and she listened in earnest to my concerns about how many South Los Altans feel disconnected and unsupported by the city council. Nancy quickly recommended me for the Leadership, Education & Advancement (LEAD) Program, which gave me a better understanding of how to get involved in our community and an opportunity to voice my perspective.

I am impressed by Nancy’s dedication to the city and its residents, such as her work as a Block Action Team leader and LEAD alumni coordinator, advocacy for Lincoln Park and ability to improve safe routes to school, among other things. Her vision for revitalizing downtown is exciting and strikes a balance between building while preserving what makes us unique.

Most importantly, I have appreciated her willingness to listen and understand other perspectives, which is a skill set that often eludes our politicians.

Please join me in voting for Nancy Bremeau for Los Altos City Council.

Tankha: Open-minded, committed to fairness

I am writing in support of Kavita Tankha for Los Altos Hills City Council even though she voted against all of our neighbors. Let me explain.

A person on our street wanted to build a house that we felt was inappropriate for the area. Mrs. Tankha was on the Planning Commission at the time. She patiently listened to the outcry of our neighbors and visited the site multiple times.

When the Planning Commission vote came, she did vote against us. However, her integrity and commitment to a fair process was impressive. I do believe she addressed us with a totally open mind.

She will serve our town well – whether the issue be safety, land use or traffic.

She is the type of person we want to help us preserve the semi-rural nature of our town and way of life.

Please vote for Kavita Tankha.
