Ginny and King Lear, 50 years

Longtime Los Altos residents Ginny and King Lear celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July.

They were married July 4, 1965, in Marysville, where Ginny was born and her family lived, and where both she and King graduated from Marysville Union High School, several years apart.

Charlotte Boutz and Erik Connell were married Sept. 13. The ceremony and reception took place at Beacon Hill in Spokane, Wash.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Maureen Boutz of Spokane. She graduated from St. George’s School and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wellesley College.

Kimberly Morris and Verdine Baker

Kimberly Morris and Verdine Baker were married June 4 on a small island in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

After a week of snorkeling, hiking and a barbecue hosted by the groom’s family, guests gathered at a remote beach on Mahé island for the wedding and a night of music and feasting, highlighted by traditional Seychellois dancers and a “Happy” flash mob.

Rachel Lena Slotnick and Michael Eric Robbins have announced their engagement to be married.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Larry and Carol Slotnick of Los Altos.


Mary Carol and Nelson Burdett

Mary Carol and Nelson Burdett, 70 years

Los Altos residents Mary Carol (MC) and Nelson Burdett recently celebrated their 70th anniversary.

They met at the University of Redlands in 1942 at a Christmas formal. MC was with another date but noticed what she called Nels’ “big, beautiful blue eyes” across the table. They talked over Christmas break and learned that they lived only a mile apart. They began dating and fell in love.
