Former Los Altos residents Wally and Priscilla Norum will celebrate their 70th anniversary Thursday.
The Norums married July 28, 1946, in Sacramento. The couple met in church and dated while attending Sacramento Junior College.
Separated for three years while Wally served in the U.S. Army during World War II, Priscilla wrote to him every day.
Following the war, Wally earned a degree in civil engineering from UC Berkeley. He was employed as the Lodi city building official and secretary of the planning commission. The couple had two children, Linda and Robert, while living in Lodi. They moved to Los Altos in 1972.
Family, friends and residents of Sunny View Retirement Community in Cupertino, where the Norums currently reside, celebrated their anniversary earlier this month.
