August 14, 1943 - November 2, 2021
Longtime San Francisco Giants, 49ers and San Jose Sharks fan and fine wine connoisseur Jerry Dennis Avellar (Razzano) passed away peacefully in hospice care in early November with his loving wife Linda and eldest son Tony at his bedside. Jerry was also an avid golfer and amiable host at yearly family Christmas gatherings as well as helming annual, always eventful, back-packing trips in the High Sierras. Jerry was born and raised in Vallejo, California by his parents Betty and Les Avellar and, upon graduating from Saint Vincent Ferrer High School in 1961 he attended San Jose State, majoring in business. After graduating in 1965, he went to work for Hemming Morse Co. in San Mateo and after successfully obtaining his CPA license he became a partner at the firm. Eventually, he left HM and operated his own tax business in downtown Los Altos for over three decades. Jerry is survived by his two sons, Tony and Matt, and their assorted grandchildren, full brother Larry and his son Michael as well as several half-brothers and sisters. After retiring Jerry enjoyed wine-tasting in Sonoma and Napa, gardening, traveling in Europe and spending time with man’s best friend.
