Los Altos-based Peninsula Symphony has scheduled a pair of performances this weekend featuring Bay Area composer/pianist Taylor Eigsti.
Titled “A Special Tribute to Dave Brubeck,” the concerts are slated 8 p.m. Friday at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center, and 8 p.m. Saturday at Flint Center in Cupertino. Mitchell Sardou Klein, Peninsula Symphony music director, will be the conductor for both performances.
The program will include the world premieres of new works by Eigsti, who will also perform George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and a tribute to late Bay Area composer/pianist and jazz innovator Brubeck. Saxophonist Dayna Stephens will accompany Eigsti on the latter. Gershwin’s overtures to “Girl Crazy” and “Strike Up the Band” round out the program.
The San Mateo Performing Arts Center is located at 600 N. Delaware Ave. Flint Center is located at De Anza College, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd., Cupertino.
Tickets are $20-$40.
