The Los Altos-based Peninsula Symphony is scheduled to open its 65th season this weekend with a pair of concerts featuring the return of soloist John O’Conor.
Performances are slated 8 p.m. Friday in the auditorium at Capuchino High School, 1501 Magnolia Ave. in San Bruno, and 8 p.m. Saturday at Flint Center at De Anza College, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd. in Cupertino.
Led by music director Mitchell Sardou Klein, the ensemble is set to perform music by Brahms, Handel and Walton.
Irish pianist O’Conor won First Prize at the Beethoven International Piano Competition in Vienna in 1973 and has toured the world in recital and concerto appearances.
