Visitors to Lake Tahoe can once again enjoy musical performances among the pines at the second Lake Tahoe SummerFest, scheduled Aug. 2-18 on the campus of Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, Nev.

The Lake Tahoe SummerFest Orchestra comprises 40 virtuoso musicians individually invited from the great orchestras of North America and beyond, including the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra; the Los Angeles Philharmonic; the symphonies of San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver; and the Leipzig Gewandhaus.

This summer, six soloists will join Maestro Joel Revzen:

• Frederica von Stade, mezzo-soprano

• Jennifer Koh, violinist

• Benjamin Hochman, pianist

• Meredith Clark, harpist

• Demarre McGill, flutist

• Chris Brubeck, composer and trombonist

“We are so pleased to continue the magic created by last year’s inaugural SummerFest concert series,” said Madylon Meiling, Lake Tahoe SummerFest founder and chairwoman.

Meiling said this year’s SummerFest will feature “TalkBack,” postconcert discussions with Revzen and the musicians.

Sierra Nevada College features a 500-seat acoustically designed concert tent that offers pure sound without amplification and tiered seating for unencumbered sightlines. Local food and select wines will be available for purchase.

“To experience the composer’s genius brought to life in a pristine natural setting is certain to inspire our audience and touch their hearts,” Revzen said.

SummerFest Concerts run over three weekends: Aug. 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18. Orchestra programs are slated 7 p.m. Aug. 2, 9 and 16; chamber music concerts highlighting the virtuosity of individual orchestra members performing in an intimate setting are slated 7 p.m. Aug. 3, 10 and 17; and family concerts are set 4 p.m. Aug. 4, 11 and 18.

Individual ticket prices are $25-$75. A VIP subscription for all nine concerts with premium seating includes a reception with Revzen and members of the orchestra as well as keepsake mementos.
