TheatreWorks Silicon Valley is set to present “Mark Twain’s River of Song” today through Oct. 27 at the Mountain View Center for Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

Charting a journey down the Mississippi River, the new musical shares the stories of one of its most famous chroniclers, author Mark Twain. Developed by Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman, creators of TheatreWorks’ “Fire on the Mountain” and the Tony Award-nominated “It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues,” it debuted earlier this year at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater.

Palo Alto Players' 'Bright Star' fades away after Sunday's matinee

The Palo Alto Players production of the Broadway musical “Bright Star” is slated to run through Sunday at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.

Set in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains of the 1920s and 1940s, the original musical tells a story of love and redemption against the backdrop of the American South. Written by Steve Martin, the play shares themes of love and forgiveness through an emotional variation of a true event.

CSMA concert celebrates Jewish New Year Sunday

The Community School of Music and Arts presents a free concert titled “A Jewish Music Potpourri” 2 p.m. Sunday in Mountain View.

To celebrate the Jewish New Year 5780, Marian Concus (CSMA faculty, flute) and Joshua Horowitz (piano) perform Jewish holiday melodies and compositions marking Jewish historical events.

The Los Altos Stage Company’s West Coast premiere of “Admissions,” a new play that explores the ideals and contradictions of liberal white America, is set to close Sunday at Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave.

Joshua Harmon’s creation won the 2018 Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Play.
