Classical guitarist Martinez performs free concert Saturday at CSMA

The Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View presents a free concert with classical guitarist Nathan Martinez 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Tateuchi Hall at CSMA, 230 San Antonio Circle.

Martinez plans to perform music from 20th-century France by way of classical guitar. The evening’s program includes works by Claude Debussy, Erik Satie and Maurice Ravel.

Pear's 'Girls Kill Nazis' enters 2nd week in MV

The Pear Theatre tradition of nontraditional holiday fare continues with the world premiere of “Girls Kill Nazis,” which opened last week and is scheduled to run through Dec. 2 in Mountain View.

James Kopp’s comedy is set in the not-too-distant future. The American Nazi party has been elected to the highest office in the United States, and Nazi law is now American law.

PYT's "Willy Wonka" opens Saturday in downtown Mtn. View

Peninsula Youth Theatre’s production of “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka” is set to run this weekend and next at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

The musical follows Charlie Bucket and several other golden-ticket winners as they embark on a tour of Willy Wonka’s famous chocolate factory. “Wonka” features songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder.

LAYT's "13" closes Sunday at Bus Barn

Los Altos Youth Theatre’s production of “13 The Musical” is slated to close Sunday at Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave.

The musical tells the story of Evan Goldman, who is about to turn 13 and can’t wait for his bar mitzvah. Everything in his life is moving along as planned until he discovers that his parents are getting divorced, and he’s ripped away from his home in New York City and thrust into rural Appleton, Ind. As he faces a new set of challenges, Evan is forced to navigate the social order at his new school. Through a series of trials, he learns what it means to be a friend and discovers that there’s more to life than establishing his place in the social pecking order.

Pianist Chiu to perform Saturday at CSMA

The Community School of Music and Arts is scheduled to present a free concert with pianist Mandy Chiu 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Tateuchi Hall at CSMA, 230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View.

Lisa Lee (violin) and Kevin Yu (cello) will accompany Chiu, who has vast experience as a soloist, chamber music artist, ballet accompanist and teacher.

Schola Cantorum Silicon Valley performs Saturday at PA church

Schola Cantorum Silicon Valley this weekend opens its 55th season, the final one for Music Director Gregory Wait, with “For the Love of Bach.”

The concert, slated 7:30 p.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church of Palo Alto, will feature three of the Bach’s festive cantatas, including the familiar “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.”
