Annual Teen Open Mic Night set for Friday in downtown MV

Singing, dancing and comedy are among the talents that will be on display at Teen Open Mic Night, scheduled 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

The annual event, organized by the city of Mountain View’s Youth Advisory Committee, began in 2009. Admission is free.

'Bullets' begins at Foothill

Foothill Music Theatre’s production of “Bullets Over Broadway The Musical” is scheduled to run Thursday through March 17 in Los Altos Hills.

In the madcap comedy, a young playwright finally gets his play produced on Broadway, only to discover there’s a catch: the mobster putting up the funds wants a vehicle for his ditzy, talent-free girlfriend. Throw in an aging diva, dancing gangsters and a bevy of chorus girls, and comedic capers ensue.

Trio to perform works of famous women composers

Trio Continental is slated to perform a free concert 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View.

Comprised of flutist Dawn Walker, pianist Aileen Chanco and violist Elizabeth Prior, the trio will perform works of famous women composers – including Amy Beach, Lili Boulanger, Cecil Chaminade, Fanny Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann – in honor of Women’s History Month. The evening will also include a conversation about women’s influence on the history of music.

Broken Box Theatre opens 'Kissed the Girls' Thursday at LAHS

Los Altos High School’s Broken Box Theatre Company presents “Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry” this week in the Eagle Theater.

Written by Arlene Hutton, the drama tackles gossip, secrets and power. It follows a group of teens who get spun up in a series of altering events that force them to question what really happened.

Smuin sets up in Mtn. View this week

A program of contemporary ballet, performances are slated Thursday through Sunday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

WBO's 'Foscari' finishes run Sunday in PA

The West Bay Opera production of Verdi’s “I due Foscari” is scheduled to close Sunday in Palo Alto.

A retelling of the Lord Byron play “The Two Foscari,” the opera will be sung in Italian with English titles.
